Dianes life experience and 35 years of diverse professional experiences, training and ongoing professional education have all contributed to her passion for working in various health professions with individuals. She devoted 20 years working as a Registered Nurse in acute and long-term care, she spent a number of years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant, and she taught health programs at post-secondary institutions for 4 years. Dianes philosophy of lifelong learning was demonstrated when she decided to return to university to attain her life-long dream of becoming a Registered Psychologist. Since the completion of her post-graduate studies Diane has continued her learning journey attending many professional development programs to enhance her skills and knowledge. After beginning her counselling practice she quickly learned that having a diverse set of skills would assist her in meeting the needs of the individuals she worked with. She attained extensive professional development training including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Clinical Hypnosis, Eye Movement Integration (EMI- trauma treatment), Individual and Group Crisis Intervention, Gottman Theories and Emotionally Focused therapy which she utilizes in her practice while working with individuals and couples. Her focus is to create a therapeutic environment of safety, openness and compassion. Dianes philosophy of therapy is client centered and includes evidence-based methods of practice focused on identifying and achieving individuals goals while building on their existing strengths and resilience. Diane works with individual adults with various issues including anxiety and anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, social phobia, trauma, postpartum depression, Adult ADHD, Stress management, athletic performance, work/life balance and relationship/couples therapy. When Diane isn`t at work she enjoys, reading, exercise, Yoga, meditation and her favourite form of relaxation and joy – playing with her grandchildren!
